These steps start at the very beginning. A complete Plan from day one for SEO. If you have already completed one of the steps make sure you did it correctly. You can also add this to what you are currently doing to promote or Rank your website. These are the onsite SEO must. Off site SEO is everything you do for SEO that is not on your actually website. A Baclink is a good example of off site.
1. SEO your Domain.
Make sure the domain you buy also describes what your business does. Do not worry if you already bought a domain. Having more than one domain can have many advantages. Read more about Getting the best out of Domain SEO Here.
2. SEO your URLs.
Just the same as the above but further explain the pages on your website with the urls. URL example homebuilding.com/brickhomes.html the page refereed to is about types of homes built letting search engines know that this page is not just about building homes but further explaining brick home building.
Wordpress settings can do this automatically for you and also their are some great plugins that can walk you through this step.
3. SEO your page Titles.
Each page has one title and this can be found:within your HTML code tags <title> and </title>
are usually the post title in WordPress but can be edited if you have a plugin such as SEO for WordPress by Yoast. Your page title tells search engines what your content is about (and they will believe you if the content matches) so you should be looking to get one or two of the keywords you want to rank for in here. The page title is also the blue text users click on in the search results of Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. so it should be interesting and engaging to encourage visitors to click through. Every page on your site should have a unique title of no more than 70 characters.
4. SEO the content on your site.
Your keyword density is the percentage of times the keyword (or phrase) that you are trying to rank for shows in each page.So if one of your keyword phrase is 'bicycles' and this appears twice in 100 words of content your density is 2%. Keep your keyword density for each word or phrase between 2 and 6% in order not to appear spammy and to ensure your text is easy to read. Be aware that the major search engines understand different words that have the same meanings such as 'car' and 'automobile'. Make sure your keywords appear naturally within the main text content of the page.
5. Internal links.
Use Keywords or phrases and link them to further explanations or picture examples on your website. Just like with backlinks you should use good anchored text for your links.
6. Finally make sure you coding is good and up to date. Search engines do not like bad codes.
