How to SEO your Website. Onsite SEO and Steps to ranking your site on Search Engines. Planning SEO.

These steps start at the very beginning. A complete Plan from day one for SEO. If you have already completed one of the steps make sure you did it correctly. You can also add this to what you are currently doing to promote or Rank your website. These are the onsite SEO must. Off site SEO is everything you do for SEO that is not on your actually website. A Baclink is a good example of off site.

1. SEO your Domain.

Make sure the domain you buy also describes what your business does. Do not worry if you already bought a domain. Having more than one domain can have many advantages. Read more about Getting the best out of Domain SEO Here.

2. SEO your URLs.

Just the same as the above but further explain the pages on your website with the urls. URL example homebuilding.com/brickhomes.html the page refereed to is about types of homes built letting search engines know that this page is not just about building homes but further explaining brick home building.
Wordpress settings can do this automatically for you and also their are some great plugins that can walk you through this step.

3. SEO your page Titles.

Each page has one title and this can be found:within your HTML code tags <title> and </title>
are usually the post title in WordPress but can be edited if you have a plugin such as SEO for WordPress by Yoast. Your page title tells search engines what your content is about (and they will believe you if the content matches) so you should be looking to get one or two of the keywords you want to rank for in here. The page title is also the blue text users click on in the search results of Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. so it should be interesting and engaging to encourage visitors to click through. Every page on your site should have a unique title of no more than 70 characters.

4. SEO the content on your site.

Your keyword density is the percentage of times the keyword (or phrase) that you are trying to rank for shows in each page.So if one of your keyword phrase is 'bicycles' and this appears twice in 100 words of content your density is 2%. Keep your keyword density for each word or phrase between 2 and 6% in order not to appear spammy and to ensure your text is easy to read. Be aware that the major search engines understand different words that have the same meanings such as 'car' and 'automobile'. Make sure your keywords appear naturally within the main text content of the page.

5. Internal links.

Use Keywords or phrases and link them to further explanations or picture examples on your website. Just like with backlinks you should use good anchored text for your links.

6. Finally make sure you coding is good and up to date. Search engines do not like bad codes.

Hard Work and Bad Back Linking. What are Bad Backlinks?

You can not cheat SEO. Doing good work is something you have to keep in mind at all times. "What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work."- Jack White

When I first started doing SEO I would look up companies that ranked well on Google and I would try to break down what separated them and the companies that ranked under them. Finding the referring links and the amount of links pointing to the well ranked sites was easy. Knowing why those links made the site rank so well was a little more difficult. I then noticed that a large amount of the links pointing to the high ranking sites were what I then called "professional links". Professional links are links coming from advertising and news sites writing articles referencing these big companies. Without tons of money you can't afford to advertise and without the advertising you get a lot less people referring to you and your site. So the big companies ranked by default. Some time has passed and today these links are not so unobtainable.  Local Citation sites like the Yellowpages are great places for these kind of links and citations.

Before it became easier I attempted to get more low quality links hoping to have the same power as a few good quality links. This route also can leave you open to site that may obtain poor links in the future. This of course can hurt what you are trying to do. Depending on who you ask this can be an example of bad back links. There are always exceptions to the rules.

You want to stay away from footer links and site wide links. Links that you control the anchored text are becoming increasingly less valuable. If you are trading links with another site let them create the link back. Bio boxes and social sites and blog sites are also losing some value unless you are going after authorship rank. Citations are a very big thing for Google and SEOs right now. Try using Citations instead of links.

Be sure to know what you and your company site need before starting your own SEO campaign. Building up over time will appear more realistic as well.

How To Pick a Domain Name.

Having two domains that go to the same site are more than normal nowadays. I ran across this with the Pest Control Company I do work for. David Wiggins the owner wanted to promote his name and get more leads by having SEO done to his site BugEvictors.com . While this is not a problem I had David get another domain that would rank well with his business. PestControlJaxFL.com was available and tells you right away what he does and where he does it. So the same site comes up regardless of what domain you go to. However doing SEO for Pestcontroljaxfl.com is a much more successful campaign because the key words are in the domain name. This can also save you money on SEO and help your SEO last longer.

download (1)If you must only pick one Domain Name then you have to decide if your whatever you are offering is something you expect people to pass word of mouth so much that you wont worry about money anymore. If not you need to have a name people can find easy when looking on Google.   Think About How Your Customers Find You On The Internet. Best Answer Do Both.

BTW .coms are always better no matter what the domain sellers tell you.

How many Facebook likes should a business page have? Do you need Facebook likes for a small business. What social media do I need for a local business?

There is no clear easy answer on... How many Facebook.com likes does a business need?

First things first are you trying to improve your position on search engine rankings like Google.com ?

In this case it may be better to have it constantly and slowly growing. Just like Google likes to see updates on a site in order for it to rank well. Then it would make sense for the same to work via your Facebook
business page. However you need to have the Facebook social plugin on your actual website in order for it to fully help.

Click here to see how to get the Facebook.com Social Media Plugin.

Do you want to look good so people assume you are a legit company and or have a good honest running business?

Well there is no perfect answer for that so I will try to break it down.

Look at your competitors first and of course you need more than them. By more I mean enough more for you to be the clear choice. If your competitors Facebook.com Likes are 1,000 for example then you need 1,500 at least. More would be even better.

Small Local business seeking customers just in their surrounding area : around 300 likes or more than your competitor.

Small business seeking customers from any market area : 1,500 likes or more than your competitors

Large business looking to find new customers via Social Media : 10,000 likes

The likes are not the only thing that matters. Having your page actually being used is a major part of looking like a well liked business. You can not make customers care enough to comment or share your Facebook post even if you are the best business ever. You can buy likes for any post on your business page. In order to have something for people to like you need constantly post. Don't have time for that get yourself a GHOST WRITER!

How do I make a Widget for my Facebook Page. Social Media Plugins for Facebook. Facebook Like Widget.

To Start off with Facebook page like widgets are called Social Plugins. Using Facebook Social Plugins page allows you to create widgets for Sharing, Liking, Following, Embedding, Comments and Activity of your Facebook Business page or Facebook Group.

Make sure you have your Facebook page open you will need the link to your page to make a widget. If you don't understand the options you are given when you hit the button to request the code go with the iframe option. Using the iframe code will allow you to post it on your website or blog where ever you like with ease.
